Heard about a really cool Amazon App but when you looked for it in the Amazon AppStore, you couldn’t find it? It’s because some apps are restricted by region. In today’s guide, I’ll show you how you can install and use Amazon apps from other Countries.
This solution works for all Amazon devices including the Amazon FireStick and Amazon Fire TV Cube.
The Amazon app store restricts apps by region/country. Their app catalog is different for each country. Google Play Store and Apple Appstore do the same. You only get access to apps that are available for your region.
However, it’s totally possible to install apps that are available in a different country’s Amazon App Store.
All you need to tweak your account settings. This will allow you to download and install apps from various regions (for example, Hulu from the US and BBC iPlayer from the UK) on your FireStick or Fire TV.
So, what do you need to do to install and use Amazon apps outside of their intended country?
This usually requires you to do two things. Firstly, you will need to change the region/country in which your Firestick is registered. Secondly, you’d require an IP address from the country where the app is actually available.
💡Note: Even though you can change the country setting at any time you want, I recommend creating a new Amazon account for this. This will ensure that your Amazon shopping or other such Amazon activities will not be affected by this change.
This will also give you access to TV shows and movies that aren’t available on Amazon Prime Video in the country where your Amazon device is registered in. Amazon Prime Video has different content libraries for each country due to geographic licensing restrictions.
How to Install Amazon Fire TV apps Available in Other Countries/Regions
As mentioned earlier, this is a two-step process. The process is extremely simple. Please follow along whenever you are ready.
1. Change the Country of Your Amazon Account
The first step is to change the region of your Amazon account, which is linked to your FireStick. Use your mobile phone or PC to do this. You can change the country/address at any time you want.
Here are the steps to changing your Amazon account’s country/region:
1. Sign in to the Amazon account that is linked to your Firestick.
2. Navigate to the Amazon website and select Account & Lists.
Look for the option Content & Devices and click it.
3. Now select the Preferences tab.
4. Click the menu Country/Region Settings.
5. Click the Change button.
6. Enter the address of the region where the app you wish to download is available. If you do not have an address, do not worry, you can get one from websites such as Random Address Generator.
Then, click on the Update button.
7. If you are asked to confirm the address change, choose Update again.
2. Change the FireStick IP address to the Country that you Added to the Amazon Account
To unblock geo-restricted content from streaming services such as Prime Video, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, and Crunchyroll, you’ll need an IP address associated with the country where the content is available.
The easiest and fastest way to change your IP address is to use a VPN.
A VPN will hide your actual IP address and give you an IP address associated with the country, where the app/service is available. For example, if you are in the UK you can download Peacock TV from Amazon USA. Or if you’re in the USA, you can download BBC iPlayer from Amazon UK.
